What are the economic relations with Bavaria and Germany?
The United States is one of Bavaria’s most important international economic partners and has been the Free State’s leading export market for many years. Bavarian companies primarily export machinery, vehicles, electrical engineering products, chemical products and pharmaceuticals to the United States.
At the same time, the United States is among the most important sources of foreign direct investment in Bavaria. Economic relations are characterized by close industrial and technological integration as well as substantial bilateral investment flows. In addition, numerous collaborations in research, technology and science further strengthen transatlantic economic ties. More than 350 university partnerships between the United States and Bavaria illustrate the depth of these research connections. In 2000, for example, Bavaria established the Bavarian-California Higher Education Center (BaCaTeC) to support joint research projects between Bavarian and Californian universities in the fields of life sciences, environmental technology, ICT and mechatronics.
As a result, the United States is of central importance to the Bavarian economy both as a sales market and as a location for innovation and investment.
„Economic success is built on personal commitment and strong partnerships! We offer U.S. companies a warm welcome and professional support in Bavaria, while remaining a reliable partner for Bavarian firms in the USA. I am proud to actively shape this transatlantic friendship and cooperation.“
