The foundation for bilateral trade is the Economic Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Kenya, which entered into force in 2024.

Economic relations also exist with the other countries covered by the Representative Office, particularly Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda.
With the establishment of the Bavarian Economic Representation for East Africa in Kenya, the State of Bavaria has further expanded its engagement in the region and strengthened its support for Bavarian companies seeking to enter East African markets.
